Plastics Design Engineer
Plastics Desing Engineer - Position Objective Design Engineer who will provide computer-aided design layout and detail drafting support to new product development team.
Design Engineer will participate as a part of a project team member and report to engineering team manager.
The primary responsibility will be design of new products in cooperation with engineers, other designers and lab technicians.
Essential Job Functions:
Design and development of single use components, disposable mixing and bioreactor bags for Biopharm manufacturing industry.
Recommend custom bag designs by evaluating customer process requirements (through direct contact with customer or through sales rep).
Present design concepts to Engineering, Marketing, and Sales through sketches, renderings, CAD models, controlled drawings and reports.
Create CAD layouts and of new products for customer review.
(50%) Documentation of engineering drawings, revision history, etc.
using SAP tool.
(25%) Provide engineering/technical support by answering questions and requests from sales & marketing personnel in the field.
(10%) Help determine the practicality of the solutions and feasibility relative to performance, cost, and schedule.
Coordinate with team of engineers off-site to establish basic design approach ensuring they are on time and within budget.
Fit and functional performance evaluation.
Make engineering prototype samples to facilitate quick customer design evaluations.
(10%) Provide technical support for investigating customer complaints pertaining to single use bioprocess bags.
Conduct failure investigation by conducting testing in the lab or coordinating tests (failure mechanism) with outside labs.
(5%) Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Polymer/Chemical Engineering or related field with 1-3 years' experience is preferred.
Associate degree with 5
years of relevant experience is acceptable.
Solid works 3D CAD proficiency is required.
Experience with Inventor 3D CAD software is a clear advantage.
Experience with document management processes is required.
SAP experience is preferred Follow good drafting standards, geometric tolerances, etc.
) Experience or familiarity with bioprocessing is preferred.
Experience designing plastic components using 3-D CAD software and success in taking components through concept, development and into production is preferred.
Working knowledge of common and specialty engineering materials is desirable.
Experience working with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, as well as geometry, trigonometry, and calculus.
Excellent PC skills with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Project, CAD and Statistical software.

Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Ability to work in a team to meet aggressive project deadlines or commitments.
