Director, Underwriting

Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, the Director, Underwriting is responsible for leading and developing the Underwriting Department for both the Direct Lending and Client Select Channels. The individual will be responsible for driving loan quality and accuracy as well as a high level of service. The Director, Underwriting will work closely with Credit Risk and Quality Assurance teams to ensure all policies and procedures are being adhered to.

Job Functions
Oversee credit and collateral decisions for Homeward originated loans to determine acceptance or denial for both in-house underwriting staff and external vendors.
Review, analyze and make final escalated decisions on loans.
Develop, implement and drive quality standards consistent with company policies and benchmarks
Ensure compliance with established policies and guidelines
Remain up-to-date on all programs and guidelines. Communicate changes to vendors or in-house staff.
Work in conjunction with the Credit Risk department to proactively look for deficiencies and implement new processes and/or procedures to address them.
Responsible for the review and response to month Quality Control reports as well as implementation of any action plans required
Design and deliver training for new processes and procedures for vendors and in-house staff.
Keep track of progression, manage and report project time lines and results.
Identify and escalate vendor quality issues related to underwriting deficiencies
Monitor and manage Underwriter productivity and ensure service levels are at acceptable levels

Qualifications
5
years demonstrated underwriting Management experience within a multi-channel origination environment
10 years underwriting experience; with knowledge of guidelines for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA and VA, and Jumbo
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to develop and earn the trust of others
Demonstrated organizational skills with a keen focus on delivering business results
Must be able to work independently and resolve complex issues using sound business judgment
Must be able to build strong partnerships with internal support teams and outside vendors
Ability to work in fast paced environment
Ability to make credit decisions that meet the company's credit policy and exceptions guidelinesEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
